Talked about this on the podcast. The 5th Graders at Rio Vista Elementary School are raising funds
to take the entire class (nearly 80 students)
to a science camp on Catalina. My son Matty did this a few
years ago and it was an incredible experience, not only introducing the children to
marine biology, but
also giving the children encouragement to face fears and prepare them for the new challenges and
opportunities that await them in middle school.
It costs about $270 per child to go on this two day trip, which includes meals and lodging.
Nearly 50 per cent of children at Rio Vista Elementary come from economically challenged homes where
spending $270 is just not possible.
There is also a significant special education population at our school as well.
With this said, I am trying to raise $3000 which would offset the cost for six kids and
five parents of special education children.
Any amount that you can donate would be greatly appreciated. $5, $10, whatever. All of your donations are
tax deductible.
You can make out your check to "Rio Vista PTA" and make sure to mark
"5th Grade Catalina Trip" in the memo.
You can mail your payment to:

Thanks in advance for your generosity. I'll keep you updated with how we're doing. Be sure to tell the PTA
that you heard about it on "The Kevin Gregg Show"
